The Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ) has established a new record for trade in its three economic zones, with Dhs336 billion ($91.5 billion) in 2024. This is a 19 percent rise from the previous year.
This amazing rise pushed DIEZ's share of Dubai's non-oil commerce to an all-time high of 13.7%, which is the result of four years of growth. The amount of trade has also gone up a lot, from 346,700 tonnes last year to 444,300 tonnes this year, an increase of 28%.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, said that these amazing results show that the emirate can "innovate, open up new paths for growth, and turn problems into chances." He said that this achievement is in line with the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to double Dubai's economy and make it one of the top three urban economies in the world by 2033.
DIEZ Manages Three Dynamic Free Zones
DIEZ is in charge of running three important free zones: Dubai Silicon Oasis, Dubai Airport Free Zone, and Dubai CommerCity. The authority said that its expansion was due to strong flows of goods and services and improved connections with international markets.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the chairman of DIEZ, said that these results show that Dubai is a "preferred destination for international companies and investors." Executive chairman Mohammed Al Zarooni said that these kinds of successes provide people "strong motivation to pursue even greater accomplishments year after year."
About 72% of DIEZ's total trade activity came from industrial, electrical, and electronic commodities, which grew by 17%. Precious stones, metals, and jewelry witnessed a big increase of 33%, making up about 22% of the total. These sectors made up a huge 94 percent of all commercial operations in DIEZ.
The authority said that its strength comes from having the best infrastructure and operations that work together throughout its zones, as well as supply chain solutions. All of these factors work together to make DIEZ's role in strengthening Dubai's non-oil commerce scene stronger and make it more competitive on a worldwide scale.
