Dubai Municipality has completed a new artistic initiative aimed at enhancing 70 infrastructure assets along Sheikh Zayed Road, stretching from the Dubai World Trade Centre to Dubai Media City. The project features artwork designed by Emirati artist Hind Khaled and reflects a strategic effort to integrate local art into public spaces while transforming service infrastructure into visually compelling urban elements.

This initiative aligns with Dubai’s broader vision of developing a holistic urban environment that merges innovation, aesthetics, and sustainability.

Rather than treating infrastructure as purely functional components, the project reimagines them as integral parts of the city’s visual identity, contributing to an enhanced quality of life and reinforcing Dubai’s global reputation in urban design.

The artistic intervention seeks to seamlessly blend infrastructure assets into their surroundings through designs inspired by the emirate’s natural landscape and cultural diversity.

The artworks capture Dubai’s environmental and urban characteristics in a contemporary style that mirrors the city’s dynamic growth and evolving skyline.

As a result, formerly utilitarian structures have been transformed into vibrant canvases that elevate the overall urban scene and strengthen the emirate’s distinctive identity.

Design themes range from the symbolic Ghaf tree, representing environmental sustainability, to depictions of Dubai’s desert terrain expressed through sand gradients and palm motifs.

Additional elements highlight urban expansion and the emirate’s forward-looking skyline, creating a cohesive artistic narrative centered on authenticity, innovation, modernity, and ecological balance.

Engineer Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, stated that the initiative underscores the municipality’s commitment to shaping an urban landscape that harmonizes architectural beauty, sustainability, and quality of life.

He emphasized that all projects are guided by a central objective: making Dubai more attractive and sustainable while delivering integrated experiences that leave lasting impressions on residents and visitors alike.

Bader Anoohi, CEO of the Public Facilities Corporation at Dubai Municipality, noted that the project was implemented through a comprehensive engineering and artistic methodology to ensure quality and long-term sustainability.

By integrating artistic designs with operational infrastructure, the initiative enhances functionality while introducing a contemporary aesthetic dimension.

The participation of Hind Khaled reflects Dubai Municipality’s approach to supporting national talent and showcasing local creativity in public spaces. Known for blending heritage with contemporary identity in a calm and expressive visual language, she has previously collaborated on government projects and community initiatives and received multiple artistic awards. This project further reinforces Dubai’s commitment to elevating its urban environment and transforming public spaces into platforms that express the emirate’s identity, progress, and cultural richness.
