Dubai has announced a landmark partnership between the Government Human Resources Department (DGHR) and Dubai AI Campus, aiming to train over 10,000 individuals by 2030 to prepare the emirate’s workforce for the era of artificial intelligence.
This collaboration focuses on developing local capabilities in AI, thereby supporting Dubai’s transformation into a global hub for innovation and technology, in line with the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33).
Dubai's AI Training Initiative
The agreement will facilitate the development of advanced training programs, hands-on projects, and mentorship initiatives targeted at civil servants, executives, and private sector professionals.
A key component of this partnership is the “AI for Civil Service” program, which seeks to equip government employees with advanced AI skills to enhance public service delivery.
Abdullah Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, Director-General of DGHR, highlighted the importance of investing in human capital, stating, “Investing in human capital is crucial for positioning Dubai among the world’s top knowledge economies. This collaboration with Dubai AI Campus will equip our workforce to lead in digital transformation and ensure the emirate’s long-term competitiveness.”
The program will include real-world AI application training, workshops, seminars, and career mentorships, encouraging the development of innovative AI-powered solutions. These initiatives will be evaluated by a panel of experts from DIFC, Udacity, and other industry leaders.
Al Falasi emphasized that the partnership will enhance the skills of employees across both public and private sectors, empowering them to navigate the rapidly evolving digital transformation landscape.
He stated, “At DGHR, we consider investing in human capital a major step towards attaining the vision of our wise leadership in steering the global innovation and technology landscape and positioning Dubai at the forefront of the world’s top knowledge economies."
He continued, “This collaboration represents a pivotal step in equipping our workforce with the skills necessary to drive digital transformation with precision and agility, ensuring sustainable economic and social development and maintaining the emirate's competitiveness.”
Furthermore, the agreement aims to foster cross-sector collaboration, generate high-quality scientific research on AI in HR, and support tech innovation events throughout Dubai.
This strategic initiative reflects the city's broader efforts to integrate advanced technologies into its economic and governmental frameworks, paving the way for a forward-thinking, knowledge-based economy for future generations.
