Dubai: Flexible Summer Initiative to be rolled out for the comfort of employees in the emirate during the summer of 2025

In a move that reflects Dubai’s continued commitment to fostering a supportive and adaptive work environment, the Human Resources Department of the Government of Dubai has officially announced the rollout of the “Flexible Summer” initiative across all government entities in the emirate — based on each entity’s discretion.
Following the notable success of its pilot phase during the summe of 2024, the initiative will now be implemented officially from July 1 to September 12, 2025, under the supervision of Dubai’s Human Resources Department.
According to the department, all government entities will continue delivering services five days a week, maintaining public access and service consistency. The official working hours will be:
• Monday to Thursday: 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM
• Friday: 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM
To facilitate this flexible schedule, government employees will be divided into two groups:
• Group One: Works 8 hours per day from Monday to Thursday, with Friday designated as a full day off.
• Group Two: Works 7 hours per day from Monday to Thursday, and 4.5 hours on Friday.
This flexible summer policy aims to enhance work-life balance, boost employee well-being, and improve overall productivity—without compromising the quality of services provided to the public.
By launching the “Flexible Summer” initiative across government departments, Dubai reinforces its position as a forward-thinking city that embraces innovation in workplace policies and prioritizes the well-being of its public sector workforce.
